The Maimonides Project was conceived following a journey to the Middle East in late 2023. Enabled by the U.S.-Israel visa waiver agreement, this travel provided a first-time opportunity to research Jewish history and religion. This, in turn, led to the discovery of Moses Maimonides—the 12th-century Jewish polymath who remains one of history’s greatest symbols of interfaith harmony.
We are pleased to announce this initiative, which challenges modern narratives of conflict by exploring a historical blueprint for coexistence. Inspired by the legacy of the 12th-century polymath Moses Maimonides, this project moves toward a more harmonious and cooperative future.

Born in Spain, Maimonides became the Chief Rabbi of Egypt and served as the personal physician to the Sultan Saladin. Inspired by this history, a journey was attempted to visit his tomb in the Galilee. However, the trip was interrupted by checkpoints and the events of October 7th. The contrast between the historical harmony intended by the journey and the current reality of division became the catalyst for this project.
The project facilitates three separate three-day conferences annually in Granada, Seville, and Córdoba, Spain. This phased approach builds comfort and trust before the groups meet.
